Tendrils Reaching
For An Artificial Light

A.S. Poem
February 2026

I am a girl trapped

Inside a glass jar
That’s flourishing with ideas

Each cell, a moment of thought
Replicating through mitosis

Every isopod, an aspiration
Exploring the vast jar

The substrate is the subconscious
Where plants take root

Yet they are never able
To grow beyond the jar
Neither am I

Outside the jar, there is only
A ninth-grade biology class
Of a high school in Reno

I am a boy locked
Inside my own
Overclocked
And overgrown

Mind
Brimming with life
